Woodsy Engagement on the Appalachian Trail

Liz & Austin's engagement announcement was a day I have been waiting for for a long time! I met Liz almost 8 years ago when we started working our day job together. We instantly bonded and became “work besties!” At the same time, we were also both working on building our own photography businesses on the side. It was great to have a buddy who understood the struggles of working full time and also pursuing your passion. It wasn’t long until we started playing volleyball together, too! I remember lots of days sitting at the office, talking all things business and even chatting about our own future weddings…and wondering when the heck our men would finally ask the question!

Liz & Austin are a perfect match. She’s loud & outgoing, and he’s mellow & kind. But when they’re on the dance floor…oh man. They’re a match made in heaven! I’m so happy that Liz found a man who loves 90’s rap as much as she does.

One of the most important things to both Liz & Austin is having a good time, no matter what they're doing. They're active people who love the outdoors but also snuggling up on the couch with a good movie and their pup, Ryker.

I’m BEYOND honored that Liz & Austin chose me to photograph their engagement. It was a 30 degree February day, but they were troopers and hiked along the Appalachian Trail for hours, stopping to capture the glowy light through the mountain trees, and enjoy some hot chocolate in custom copper mugs hand lettered by Lynn Theresa Designs. We ended the session with amazing views up on Annapolis Rock overlook - but the wind and frigid air made us start the trek back to our warm cars before sunset. The best part about the trip was that even though we didn't quite catch "golden hour," the landscape still gave us beautiful views & gorgeous light!!
