A Homewood Wedding in Asheville North Carolina

Kelvin and Shreya put on quite a party. The dance floor was HOT, they blended their family traditions (Shreya's family from India and Kelvin's African-American and Latino heritage) and everyone had such a great time!

Flash back to how they met. Fun story, they met by swiping right on a dating app! Their first date was over a few drinks and what Shreya remembers most was after hours of talking, their conversation was cut short due to the city-wide curfew (this is when Charlotte was experiencing riots a few years back). The rest is history! Flash forward to their engagement where Kelvin had picked out a special spot in our favorite park for a surprise proposal. He published a book with a compilation of every love letter he had written her during their relationship, leading to the ultimate love letter for the proposal.  The book ended with instructions to a location in the park where Shreya would find Kelvin down on one knee, and she would excitingly struggle to say ‘Yes!’ through a waterfall of tears.

When planning their wedding, they knew they wanted the venue to be special to both of them. And as far as they can remember, they celebrated all of their big moments leading up to the wedding in Asheville, North Carolina. It was a city they fell in love with and it was the city they wanted to get married in. The castle-like exterior of Homewood gave their wedding the storybook feel they instantly loved.

They picked Memorial Day weekend for their wedding for a few reasons. First, they knew they wanted their wedding to be, above all, a celebration, which to both his Dominican roots and her Indian culture, means a lot of dancing. And, of course, they wanted as many as possible to be able to attend. The holiday weekend was a perfect excuse and Asheville was the perfect location to make a long weekend getaway for everyone. They felt so fortunate to have been able to spend the days leading up to their wedding catching up with all their friends and family from out of town and so when the wedding day came they were able to spend more time having fun with their loved ones and less time trying to catch up.

They decided to leave their first look to the ceremony and boy did the anticipation build! was building all afternoon. Ready to walk to their ceremony, through flowing tears of joy, Shreya asked her Dad to tell her a joke to keep her make-up from ruining. They walked up the sidewalk, around the corner, into the view of their guests and as soon as she saw Kelvin standing at the altar everyone else disappeared. He was smiling at her and she was smiling back at him. It was the happiest moment of their lives. Just like her dreams, the rest of the day was magical and also a blur. Their awesome DJ, perfectly fused Latin music, American Pop, and somehow even Hindi music seamlessly so that whether they were dancing Bachata, Salsa, Hip hop, or Hindi, the dance floor was always crowded. Thanks to their photographer who beautifully captured the both the big moments and the in between, they frequently look back and reminisce on how their wedding turned out exactly the way they envisioned… a celebration of love, of family, and of their forever.
